Your beauty has a Purpose

This is mainly to you girlies. Guys, feel free to read too, it may help you perceive beauty a bit differently :)

I pray you receive something from this... AMEN!

It is crazy what beauty is defined as today. The world has created a standard of what beauty is and if it's not met you risk the dangers of not being classified as beautiful. It's so sad to watch insecurities rise because of the inability to reach these standards. But I'm here to be cliche and say that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. I am here to tell you that your beauty has a purpose.

I think we've got so caught up in other people's beauties, forgetting our own.

Esther's story is one of my favourites in defining beauty and purpose. A quick background story:

So in the book of Esther, Queen Vashti disobeys the King by not following his command. Disobeying the king was a crime, and therefore she needed to be punished. The king was angry to be dishonoured by his own queen and wife so he agreed to punish her by removing her crown and position as queen.

Now the king wanted another woman to replace queen Vashti. Among other beautiful ladies, Esther was 'nominated' to take the role of a queen. She had to go through a process of treatments for a year in preparations for the king. Now, Esther's beauty was the perfect beauty for the king that she was made queen. Because her beauty was 'perfect' for the king, she was highly favoured by him. Eventually, because she was so beautiful to the king, she saved her Jewish people from Haman's plan to destroy them.

Okay... Lets break down the scriptures

Esther 2:10 Esther had not told anyone of her nationality and family background, because Mordecai had directed her not to do so. 11 Every day Mordecai would take a walk near the courtyard of the harem to find out about Esther and what was happening to her.

(After she was pronounced queen)20 Esther continued to keep her family background and nationality a secret. She was still following Mordecai’s directions, just as she did when she lived in his home.

First of all, when Esther entered the 'palace', her purpose from the beginning was to save her people (Jews) from being destroyed. Mordecai directed her to stay low key about her nationality because they were perceived as the 'low' in status and 'importance' you could say. They were perceived as the 'minority' and 'different' therefore discriminated by the rest. If she was to give away her nationality, she could've have blocked herself from fulfilling the purpose called for her. Esther 3:8 Then Haman approached King Xerxes and said, “There is a certain race of people scattered through all the provinces of your empire who keep themselves separate from everyone else. Their laws are different from those of any other people, and they refuse to obey the laws of the king. So it is not in the king’s interest to let them live.

^Shows how the Jews were perceived and where in risk of discrimination and being wiped because of their differences.

Another important thing in this verses is that she was obedient. We need to make sure that the advices we are receiving are from people that know God! People that are led by God will give you advices or directions that lead you to your purpose and it's important to acknowledge these people in your life before you block your purpose from being fulfilled. Another important thing is that Esther did not change who she was in terms of her morals and obedience towards Mordecai after she was pronounced queen in verse 20. This also teaches that no relationship should aim to change who you are but instead enhance who you are. The king loved Esther for who she was and did not mention anything he disliked about her because she was perfect to him. She continued being true to herself.

17 And the king loved Esther more than any of the other young women. He was so delighted with her that he set the royal crown on her head and declared her queen instead of Vashti.

The king loved Esther more than any other women presented to him. There was something about Esther that drew him to her.

Your beauty will attract and draw whom is going to help you fulfil your purpose. Your beauty will attract that man whose purpose supports yours or allows yours to be fulfilled.

Jeremiah 3:19 “I thought to myself, ‘I would love to treat you as my own children!’I wanted nothing more than to give you this beautiful land— the finest possession in the world. I looked forward to your calling me ‘Father,’ and I wanted you never to turn from me.

God wants us to receive the finest possession. The apple to our eye. So therefore, Esther was that finest possession to the king and you will be the finest possession to whom is made for you.

To continue the story, after Esther found favour in the king's sight because of her beauty, Haman was planning to destroy all the Jews because Mordecai failed to bow to him like everyone else.

(Esther 3:2 And all the king’s servants who were within the king’s gate bowed and paid homage to Haman, for so the king had commanded concerning him. But Mordecai would not bow or pay homage.)

Haman planned to destroy the Jews, not knowing that Esther was Jewish. He made his request known to the king. (Esther 3: 8 Then Haman said to King Ahasuerus, “There is a certain people scattered and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of your kingdom; their laws are different from all other people’s, and they do not keep the king’s laws. Therefore it is not fitting for the king to let them remain. 9 If it pleases the king, let a decree be written that they be destroyed, and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver into the hands of those who do the work, to bring it into the king’s treasuries.”)

This plan of destroying the Jewish people came after the beauty attracted the king, who is the source needed to fulfil the purpose.

So the news about the plan to destroy the Jews was eventually released to Esther and she chose to take the risk of losing her position as queen as well as her life, to save her people (fulfilling her purpose).

She entered the inner court of the king's palace and the king immediately showed her favour and was more than willing to grant her wishes up to half of his kingdom. All of this because he was captured by her beauty.

Long story short, she made her request known to the king to save her people (Jews). She saw her opportunity and places her life on the line: "If I have won your favor, O king, and if it pleases the king, let my life be given me, that is my petition, and the lives of my people, that is my request. For we have been sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be killed, and to be annihilated."

The king was angry and was quick to make sure Esther's wish was granted. So yes... Haman was hanged to death because of the threat he had on Esther's people. The king made sure Esther's purpose was fulfilled.

Above all, all I can say is that our beauties has purposes. We don't have to conform to the beauty of the world because your beauty will attract the one that will love you and will attract your purpose mate. Stop trying so hard to change how you look because if you think you are not perfect you are saying God made a mistake. Everything God created is full of purpose just like you. Beauty is not just physical, it is also internal. Discover who you are and who you are meant to be. That can only be found in Christ! God is our creator, and the creator always knows the function of His creation. Discover yourself in Christ and stop feeding off from what other people say of you and what social media says you should be like.

You are beautiful. Period.

Stay beautiful.

Love yourself, appreciate your beauty and do not settle for less than someone that's a king, and also settle for someone that will treat you like the queen you are.
